Chinese Herbal Medicine

Before pharmaceuticals and even the use of acupuncture needles, herbal remedies were used to heal and balance the human body.
Chinese herbs have shown their effectiveness under the scrutiny of both empirical study and modern clinical trials.
These herbs can be used to augment the treatment of a particular imbalance, working together or sometimes in place
of acupuncture and other medicines. Unlike most drugs, the herbs are put into complex formulas that are specific to
an individual's condition, not just any one symptom.

The Herbal Medicine FAQ

How Do I Take the Herbs? All of the herbal formulas we prescribe come in small
teapills which are very easy to swallow, there are no teas to be brewed or unpleasant tastes to experience.

Are the herbs safe? Absolutely. Our herbalist will take into account all of the
medications you are currently taking and ensure that there will be no interactions between the herbs and your medicine.
Chinese herbal medicine is extremely safe, as most of the herbs are simple plants and roots that
many Chinese people use for food or spices. All of the herbs in our formulas come from GMP factories that
use the highest quality control in the world, and make sure there are no heavy metals or other unwanted
products.

Do the herbs have any side effects? Side effects to herbal formulas are extremely rare.
Every once in a while an herbal formula may upset your stomach or cause diarrhea. However, this is usually due
to the non-active binding agent used to keep the pills together and not the herbs themselves. This can easily
be solved by simply using a different manufacturer of herbs.

How long do I have to stay on the herbs? A typical course of treatment for
herbal medicine is between 1-3 months. Some formulas can be taken for up to six months, but these are not common.

How long before I start to see the effects of the herbs? Unlike acupuncture,
herbs can take a week or two to get into your system and start balancing your energy. We usually keep you on
a course of herbs for two weeks to test the efficacy. If things are working, we continue the same course.
Sometimes the formula may have to be tweaked to gain maximum effect. Remember, formulas are built specifically
to your body and condition so it varies greatly from person to person.

Do the herbs contain any pharmaceuticals or western drugs?
Absolutely not. All of the herbs we use are 100% natural and contain no synthesized medication or pharmaceutical of
any sort.
